Wanderlust
"I was wondering, how did you 'save the world' exactly?" Garant, a close friend of Audrey asked. “What a pleasant surprise to get such a question. I haven’t heard that in years!” Audrey exclaimed. Garant shrugged, “Well like i said, i was just wondering.. But you wouldn’t mind to share your story, right?” “Well, no, not really i guess.” Garant said with a slight giggle, "Okay then.. Go on."
Sure.. it all started when.... the fourth world war ended, and the apocalypse occurred as a supposedly symbol of anger from God because of the chaotic world war. I awaken in my hometown, Idaho, with a police badge that i was holding in my hand with my name on it. I stood up and heard a broad casted voice. It told us, the so-called survivors to go to Washington DC, a safe haven for survivors to gather together.
I went to DC and it was close from Idaho. After approximately 5 days, eating everything remaining along the way, I arrived.I heard a voice- a speech, that was held by U.S' vice president, Teresa Slovaskia. She explained a system which we will have to live by, and that this system also occurs in every other country. She explained on how we needed to unite and prioritize teamwork to gather needs, we also need to keep the population balanced so that we can survive with little amount of food.
She also said that the president, Irvan Kaware died so she feels obligated to step in. After the speech, she screamed, " USA!" with the survivors following the scream. The survivors said hello to each other, while i was lost in thoughts. Suddenly, a man introduced himself to me “Hey, my name’s Robert.”. And I replied with a smile.
But out of sudden, a bomb, followed by missiles hit DC. Teresa said while analyzing the
missile's characteristic features. "It looks like Russia refuses to make peace" , bombs and missiles kept hitting and I know i need to run, but before i can ruminate anything, a bomb landed beside me and i was thrown into a wall, and i fell unconscious.

A man's voice woke me up. When i opened my eyes, i saw a familiar figure, but nonetheless, i didn't remember him. He explained how Russia bombed the whole North America. He said that he’s Robert, who had a plan to go search for the survivors, as we need to unite. As we were calling out to search for survivors continuously, we finally realize that we were alone. I also realized that the possibility Russia may bomb other sides of US is pretty big.
So we decided to live up to his plan to search every side of U.S. We went to U.S' Air Force military base and used their plane. After preparing ourselves, we set off. The flight was smooth, until a bomb that was intended to attack South America hit the right wing of our
plane. Causing it to not be able to fly. I jumped out of the plane, out of Robert's order. Robert followed to jump.
The waves rolling down the sea pushed me up the shore. I can't do anything but close my eyes and disregard my thoughts for hours. When i woke up, Robert's gone. I went to the city, and it was Mexico City. And when i entered, the environment was broken. It seems that it was also attacked by Russia.
As I was getting deeper, i heard a voice with a Mexican accent, and Robert's. Robert was convincing the Mexican survivor to join, but instead, he got his arm slashed. The Mexican boy with a switchblade was with his little sister. I approached and explained calmly about Russia's attacks.
Magically enough, after a few deliberates and argues, he joins. Robert then said that if Russia keeps attacking, then it would be way better if we take revenge on Russia to stop them, instead of searching survivors. The Mexican boy directed us to Mexico's military base. We arrived and we prepared ourselves. We took every weapon. Sniper rifles, grenades, combat shotguns, etc. we boarded to what Robert says as a thunder chief , describing his fascination of planes and automobiles.
We got into the plane, with Robert flying the thunder chief. In the middle of the flight, the Mexican introduced himself and his sister as Jerry and Agatha, respectively. As the smooth flight ends, we arrived. Moscow looks very fine, it is only damaged by the apocalypse, as it seems. Robert then explains on how we will spy on the Russians while Jerry and Agatha will hide far from Russians.
Robert and i then quietly sneaked and hid behind a Skyscraper building. And when we arrived, Russia was holding a speech. And Robert peeked, turning his head around. And then he looked and me, with a surprised look. He whispered to me " It's Teresa Slovaskia."
I was, shocked certainly. The speech tells Russians on how Russia will unite, and will destroy those who deceives and created the world war. Which is very ironic to me. Suddenly, the speech stopped for awhile and a girl's scream was heard. And i was sure that it was Agatha's scream. I was struggling to get out and help her, but Robert held me so that i can't move.

Which Teresa replies by saying that he is now a semi survivor. Horrified by his brother's death, she cried. Robert decided to make up a plan. He loaded his gun when Teresa's right hand man, Geonata notifies Teresa that Robert's got a gun. When all eyes are on Robert, i snatched Agatha quickly and ran to somewhere far away.
After 15 minutes of hiding, i heard Robert's somewhat unclear screaming voice, but i was sure that it was " Run Away!!". But i thought of another plan. I lured the Russians far away, with us ending up in a ruined factory. I was preparing a grenade that i brought earlier, so
that when the Russians and i head face to face, i’d bomb the place, and let Agatha run, killing myself.
As the Russians arrived, i saw Robert nowhere to be found. Teresa had an evil smirk. I took a deep breath and threw the grenade, 2 meters away from me. A 'boom' quickly formed. I sheltered myself and Agatha. But nevertheless, we were hit. I thought to myself, I have failed.
A song sang along in my head as i woke up, reluctantly, badly bruised, wounded and also singed. I woke up, weak and screamed out to Robert and Agatha. Around me was Russian's dead body. But no Teresa whatsoever. I walked, with a little amount of energy left.
I eventually fell down, and a voice surprised me. It was Teresa, with Agatha whom she brutally held, with a gun on her right hand, placed on Agatha's head. She explained how Robert was the one who leads her here, and that Agatha survives the grenade, but Robert didn't.
I was breathing slow, and ruminates all the things that she had said. I know either me or Agatha will survive. She then suddenly released Agatha, and pulled me up violently. She stabbed me in the thigh with a spear that cuts deeply through my flesh, and pierced it to the ground, so that i can't move. Then, she pointed the gun to Agatha again. And said something i truly remember..
"You know something.. I Killed Irvan Kaware, he never gave US the peace we wanted.. " Teresa said while putting on a smirk. And then she explained how she wants to rule the world, because it is her symbol of revenge, as US' violent ways, and Irvan Kaware' s hatred for poverty killed her only child, and her only family left when they were living in poverty.
Her son stole fruits out of extreme hunger and was shot when trying to run away, yet
Teresa was still blamed for letting her son be so 'reckless'. She said that i was responsible for her loss..That's when i remembered, that i was the cop who shot the kid accidentally, which explains the police badge that i had. As i was thinking that i will die of hemorrhage, Teresa pointed the gun to another target, me.
She said "You will die quick, i still have pity. This is for my son.. BUDI! Goodbye--" as she wanted to finish her last word, Robert suddenly said, loud and clear." Welcome to the afterlife, Teresa Slovaskia." Teresa turns around, she pointed her gun at Robert, but it's too late. The bullet hit her, on the head. Bulls eye.
Robert went closer to save me, and i was watching Teresa's blank, dead eyes. He pulled out the spear from my thigh. I stood up, and tangled myself around Robert to not fall. Agatha, who was still traumatized by the event walked along. Robert said to me " Let's live up to our original plan" i nodded. He also informs Agatha that now, Jerry is in a safe haven. I sighed in relief as everything has finished.
Years later, Me, Robert, and Agatha lived up to the original plan, to collect all the survivors all around the world. Survivors from all around the world gathered in Russia to respect Teresa Slovaskia, who is free now with the only thing she has ever loved, Budi."
